Lenhart Obenshain: Flora John W
Reviews
John W. Flora is one lawyer you don't want to have anything to do with. He was hired to advise my sister as Trustee of a family trust. Now that our mother has passed away, he is using the Trust to extort our non-trust assets. He says he is "not ready to release our inheritance." And by not ready, he means we have not given our sister and him enough. He has dragged the process out for more than a year in order to pump up his legal fees. He laughed at us in an email, saying that as long as we insist on distributing the Trust as our parents intended (stubbornness he called it), then he and his advisory team of accountants and bankers will continue to rake in their fees for which they are grateful. There is no end in sight. He has lied to us, insulted us, and misled us with partial information -- all the while claiming to be our attorney and the attorney for the Trust. And we are paying him from our Trust funds. Trustees have very clear fiduciary responsibilities to the beneficiaries of the Trust. John W. Flora does not seem to understand any of this. He claims to help families resolve disputes but in fact he has created a family dispute by promising our Trustee sister that he could “get more” for her. He sees a Trustee as having the privilege of taking a disproportionate part of the Trust assets. I've never encountered such a dishonest and corrupt person. Steer clear of John W. Flora.
