Monica Owens & David Musselman of Common Ground Divorce Mediation (sometimes also named Common Ground Divorce Specialists) do not adhere to professional behavior or deadlines or legal obligation and responsibility to their clients. I paid $700.00 0n 10/12/13 today is 06/02/2014. My Divorce Amendment has still not gone through. I found out on, 5/28/2014 that the paperwork was done incorrectly and the clerk is sending it back to us. On 2/22/2014 I received an email from Monica Owens. She wrote that she would be trying to get our paperwork finished that week. She said she would look on my file immediately. On 3/05/14 I wrote an email to Monica Owens asking her what our status was. Her reply was that she was “a ways out”. She had the flu for 3 weeks, she explained. She also replied that she was going to Texas for spring break and would not be able to get to it until the 17th of March. (Paid to have this done 10/12/13) I wrote back and told her I wanted a refund of my $700.00. I asked for a refund several times on the phone and through email to both Monica and Mr. Musselman. Monica replied to my demand for a refund saying she could get it done before the trip. We then got several emails asking for the same information we had sent 12/04/2013. So again the emails made it very clear to me that she was just starting this paperwork that I paid $700.00 for on 10/12/13. We finally received the documents on 3/11/2014. The only instructions were to print them and take them to a notary and sign them. No one went through the paperwork with us or told us where to sign and there were no further instructions on the documents themselves. There were signature lines that did not state they were signature lines. It was very embarrassing and the notary told us it was “very sloppy paperwork.” I called Monica Owens and told her this and she said, “I am done with this” and hung up the phone on me. I called David Musselman and told him the same thing. He told me that the notary did no t know what she was talking about. I told him I thought that would be unusual since a notary sees many legal documents and that this notary was not biased and did not know about all of the trouble we had in even getting the paperwork in the first place. I have never had anything even close to this mistreatment happen to me before. This involves custody of my only son! It has been dragging on for 8 months and is still not even filed with the courts.
