On July 15th 2013, I was cycling on a loop I do almost everyday when the weather will allow it. While I was riding up Colbert Heights mountain in Tuscumbia I was struck from behind by a Ford F150 that was moving right around 40mph. As a result my back was severely broken as was my left leg and my neck. My Pelvis also was seen to have two fractures and my I lost the function of about 1/3 of my left kidney. On the afternoon of July 16th 2013 I had a surgery performed on my back so that hopefully I would be able to walk again in several months. Many people have what you might call a "routine" back surgery every day to relieve pressure or make some small tweak here and there to reduce discomfit and pain. Most of these types of surgery's last around one to two hours and there is minimal downtime so the patient can get back to a normal sense of life as quickly as possible. My surgery lasted six hours. Entry was made from my left side forcing the removal of a rib. The reason the surgeons went in this way was so they could remove broken bits of my backbone and replace it with titanium. While the surgery did allow me to walk again on my on, in about four months time, I had a lot of other issues that I am still dealing with, such as no abdominal wall on my left side, severe nerve damage which was caused from the crash and the surgery combined and a partially functioning left kidney that was also caused from the crash. After a few weeks had passed and I was at home, my friend Douglas Hargett came to visit me and see how I was doing. This visit forced me to look and see how much money my insurance would cover and where I was concerning co-pays and where I would be a year from then. After seeing the tidal wave of debt that I was about to be responsible for it made me really mad that a person can just run you over with no repercussions felt on their side. I contacted Douglas and asked him to file suit so we could at least have these huge bills paid for. Just over a year later with Douglas and Mike Tanner's guidance we settled for a large amount of money to reimburse these debts I had accumulated. Of course, I've known Douglas and Mike for a long time but the level of professionalism and time they put into our case was amazing. If you are the victim of a driver who hurts you in some way while your riding your bike I would strongly suggest that you make a visit or call Hall-Tanner-Hargett. They understand in great detail the law concerning this type of accident and they know how to execute it in a court of law.
I have personally known Douglas Hargett of Hall and Tanner for many years. He assisted me with a foreclosure case a few years ago. I was lost and did not understand what all was going on. My situation was getting out of hand and I was not gaining any ground handling the situation by myself. At this point I decided I needed assistance and I turned to Douglas. I was pleased on how hard he worked on my case. During the time of the case, I gaining knowledge and even more importantly for me a peace of mind before the case was even closed. The professionalism and knowledge that he and the rest of the staff hold is second to none. I am and will continue to recommend Hall,Tanner & Hargett PC Attorneys to anyone. Thank you all for your assistance and also the peace of mind I gained through my case.
My son was in school at Alabama and his landlord was trying to force him off the property so he could build apartments, before his lease was up (and before the end of the school year). The issue handled with a phone call. My son was able to stay until the end of the lease - recommended!
