I do not recommend this lawyer. His services are untrustworthy, unprofessional and sloppy. He did not provide me with a costs disclosure before or whilst being engaged as my solicitor for the standard conveyancing of my property. He has charged me $350 so far for interim costs incurred, which I paid promptly within days. I made an enquiry at the office after already engaging his services relating to his legal obligations to disclose costs to me. The secretary told me that they "don't have to do that". The following day I made an anonymous telephone call requesting a written estimate for the conveyancing of my unit at an estimated selling value, and other details. I was given an estimate verbally. When I requested a written estimate, the secretary replied: "no we don't do that". Under the Legal Profession Enforcement Act, he must provide a written estimate of the likely amounts of costs that will be incurred for his services that he provides a client. The Law Access (NSW Gov't) service; the Law Society of NSW, and the Office of the Legal Services Commissioner confirmed this. Make sure you are not duped like me. If the lawyer will not comply with the law - how can you trust him to professionally, honestly, or competently conduct your business. By the way, when I purchased my property (a different solicitor), they did not account for all monies owing on the property, and I received a bill for $ 1 200 from the council in unpaid rates. The solicitor paid it at my insistence, as they had made the mistake. I think I may do all future conveyancing myself now, and it's also a lot cheaper. Incompetence is rife at all levels of service in Australian society from shop assistants, lawyers and real estate agents - it's a disgrace.
