Cynthia Fiene represented a friend who was a defendant in a small claims court hearing. The documents she prepared were boilerplate, full of typos and misspellings and looked hastily pulled together. She didn't prepare my friend for the hearing at all, it seemed. When the plaintiff asked him a question about the contract under dispute, it was clear that she hadn't even talked to him about it before the hearing. It made my friend feel and look foolish. Her main mode of defense was to insult, deride, and interrupt the plaintiff, which embarrassed my friend because he's not a mean person. She never presented facts, just tried to spin the plaintiff's words. Didn't she know that the judge would give the plaintiff a chance to respond? The plaintiff looked like he felt sorry for my friend for having such an incompetent attorney. Of course, my friend lost his case. He didn't tell me how much she was charging, but that fur coat she wore to the hearing looked pretty expensive.
