Five words: "I like to be perfect." These are words you want and need your attorney to say, and they are a direct quote from Laura Blair Butler of Tucker Griffin Barnes. She represents me in my very contentious and scary separation/divorce case. I hired her after my first attorney refused to return my calls for ten days. Laura has always been incredibly professional, punctual, and responsive. I have the utmost trust in her and respect for her; I have never questioned her ethics. My children feel welcome and enjoy playing in the toy/library area in the lobby of the firm. The staff at Tucker Griffin Barnes is always friendly and considerate. Laura's legal assistant Mary Pat Fogarty is a joy to work with and very professional. I am treated with respect and get the personal attention I deserve. In addition, it is abundantly clear to me that Laura Butler maintains great respect for the judge and good working relationships with other family law attorneys in Charlottesville. I have recommended Laura to many other individuals. She is NOT a hand holder, but she is brutally honest, knows the law inside and out, has an amazing work ethic, and is very creative in her problem solving. She will research anything and everything to reach the best conclusions. I need empathy and compassion, and I seek solace from my friends, family, and other professionals. I have been very frightened in my case, for myself and our children, and have been to the police and the women's shelter on numerous occasions. I even had a local, very well-respected mediator warn me about going to court against my ex and his attorney who has a huge reputation ("he is the best.") Nevertheless, I trusted my instincts and I trusted Laura, and I am very glad I did. I believe that Laura does not push for litigation unless it is truly necessary, however. She warns me against actions that would be more money than they are worth and does not endeavor to rack up my invoices. She communicates as necessary, but does not send wordy emails, long messages, or spend unnecessary time with me. All in all, I feel she really has my back. I cannot recommend her strongly enough, and cannot imagine having another attorney. I am extremely fortunate to have met her and to have her represent me.

Had an awful consultation with Laura Butler recently. She was very rude and not comforting in my case. This was my first time dealing with a situation like this and I did not need someone yelling at me. I felt she wasn't on my side. She wasted my money and did not give me any legal advice, but only her opinion on my situation. I'm right where I started and even more upset about my case from the beginning. I wanted to go to someone to seek advice and all I got was criticism the whole time. I didn't go there to be told I was an overprotective parent and to just let the opposing side have his way. To have someone who is supposed to be giving me legal advice, putting me down for having my children to begin with is wrong. Her lack of concern for my children makes me question her abilities as an unobjective, legal representation. I am going to find a lawyer to help me that doesn't make me cry.

We entered into closing needing $1300 more than originally told. The seller credited us with partial property taxes, however, our closing agent - Ms. Marsh - forgot to credit these plus extra to our escrow. After paying $500 in closing fees, plus purchasing title insurance, we received a deliquent tax notice from our county four months after closing. The amount we owed the county for unpaid taxes? $735. Mr. Tucker stated, "98% of the job was done correctly." Last time I checked, I paid for 100%. When I expressed my frustration with the lack of standards, Mr. Tucker reminded me that my end goal was met - I owned my home. This lack of perfectionism in their practice has definitely tarnished my opinion.

TGB Law has been highlighted as a model business on CNN and the Today Show for its phenomenally family friendly work environment. Mostly female attorneys with experience in virtually all areas of law -- this is a great place to turn if you want your case handled with expertise AND sensitivity . . .
