A few months ago I was visiting a friend and we went out around Austin. I live in Travis County, but outside of town and rarely come in on the weekends. It was a good night out with a buddy I hadn't seen in about a year. We hit a number of spots around town, but we were drinking and driving. Around 1 am, an officer pulled me over. (I had rolled a stop sign). At this stage, I'd say I was a bit tipsy, but definitely not drunk.... (or so I thought). The officer asked me to do a field sobriety test, which I did and did well (or so I thought). At that point he asked me to take a breathalyzer. This is obviously where things started to go downhill. I knew not to ever do that so I refused. At this stage the officer took cuffed me and went to my friend who was outside of the car. Turns out my friend had a joint on him (I really didn't know, but wasn't surprised). I was charged with DWI and marijuana possession (which is a crock because I hadn't done that in years). I was bonded out by another friend and started the process of finding a criminal lawyer. I found white & measells online as well as two other firms. I met with three attorneys. I really don't know much about how to find a lawyer, but I was just very comfortable with David so I went with them. Later I met with John Michael (the law partner) and he was just as good. The cost was a little higher than I expected, but at the end of the day I cannot be more thankful. I won't get into all the details, but basically neither charge is on my record. If you're in Austin and need a criminal attorney, I cannot recommend them enough. Thanks guys (hope we never talk again!)
