Daniel Hempey is a fantastic lawyer and I recommend him highly.
I had been assualted while on vacation in Kauai. The deputy prosecutor at the time, Lawrence S. Strauss, had tried to intimidate me to drop charges against the aggressor. When I refused, he dropped the charges against the aggressor and pressed charges against me (vindictive prosecution). He also raised the charges from misdeamenor assault to felony assault. I had been the victim by the aggressor but to be victimized by the prosecution and mistreated by the police was devastating. The people I had gone to for safety ended up victmizing me worse.
I was desperate and felt helpless. Daniel took my case and charged me a price that was very fair. He really fought on my behalf (and it was a lengthy battle) threatening to have the prosecutor debarred. The charges were dropped by the DAs office but I suffered tremendously. I thought he was a very smart man and didn't seem ruled by greed but some deeper sense of what is right and just.
I will be forever grateful to Daniel and his team.
